Project: Summer Vacation 2012

I have a problem with commitment. At least, commitment in terms of being able to stick to a given project for a given amount of time. Reading, writing, drawing, diets, exercise routines, video games, television series--and, you guessed it, even blogs, I can only seem to keep at for so long before I grow tired and uninterested in it. My lack of being able to finish any given project, no matter how excited I may be concerning it, is something I'm constantly ashamed of, but try as I may, it keeps happening. Maybe there's something inherently wrong with my brain. I try no to blame the Internet and all of its sweet temptations--we'll call it denial.

So, that's where this blog comes in. I can guarantee no measure of success, but before the start of the fall semester, I'm going to attempt to complete the project of all projects, and write a blog post a day documenting my progress. There's no set minimum or maximum of the things I want to achieve; I just hope to garner a sense of accomplishment and self-discovery through the course of the next few months, and of course, for once, finish as many things as I possibly can. These activities listed are ones that I plan, if all goes well, on following through:

  • Read all unread books (and comics) sitting on my bookshelf
  • Reread all books on bookshelf that I've been meaning to read
  • Read other books I don't own that I've been meaning to read
  • Draw often, maybe start or continue an abandoned comic idea
  • (Start to) write a novel
  • Write short stories and excerpts
  • Work on the script for my radio drama
  • Open auditions and produce radio drama
  • Make a voice acting demo reel
  • Record lines for all existing vocal roles
  • Audition for new vocal roles
  • Lose 20 lbs.
  • Be social
  • Follow through with role plays I've joined
  • Create my own role play and follow through with it
  • Keep my room (and fish tank) clean
  • Actually beat Luigi's Mansion

May 16, 2012 - August 16, 2012. Exactly three months. 93 days. Time to get cracking (I think I'll start by making my bed).
